James Schidlowsky: Collage
My collages are mostly absurd and surrealistic. I don't know what they mean – you can decide! Most of my collages are hand-made with paper sources, scissors and glue. A few are assembled digitally, but still from hand-cut elements that I've scanned.
I started doing collage after being inspired by my friends Maryse Latulippe, Marie-Douce St-Jacques, and Felix Morel. Other collagists I follow are Karenko, Labopapier, and BigD.
A good place to discover collage artists is via the curated stream collagewave, and of course Kolaj magazine, which published a collaborative interview between Clint Enns & myself in issue #35.
